Wolfgang Bock, born in 1955, studied economics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and took his doctor's degree (Dr. rer. oec.) in regional economy. After professional periods during which he worked on investment and regional planning in Frankfurt a. d. Oder and Halle a. d. Saale, he worked as government adviser in the South of Africa. He acted as a consultant also in later years, mainly in the area of fundamental concepts for controlling poverty in South-East Africa.
During the 1990s, he was also managing director of a regional science society and scientific director of an economic research institute.
Thomas Bock graduated in Intercultural European and American Studies (B.A.) at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. During and after his Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Aviation Security Management at City University London, he dedicated himself to various activities in emergency and crisis management. As crisis manager of the airline Air Berlin, he coordinated the airline's crisis organization from 2012 to 2015 in the event of flight operations incidents and major damage situations. From 2016, he devoted himself to working as a consultant for a Hamburg-based consulting firm. From 2016 to 2018, he specialized in consulting for companies in the banking and insurance sector in Europe. The focus of this activity was the implementation and execution of measures of preventive and reactive emergency and crisis management. This was followed by further activities as Crisis and Business Continuity Manager for DHL at the Leipzig air freight hub and for Deutsche Bahn in Frankfurt am Main. Today, he is responsible at Dr. Bock & Partner GbR for, among other things, strategic-conceptual studies on regional development under the aspect of crisis resistance (resilience). Since the 1990s, the consulting firm has been active in the fields of structural and demographic change and the sustainable development of rural and urban areas.
